Every person knows that we are meant to be master of the mind, not its slave.
It is supposed to be our obedient servant, not a petty dictator with a perverse will of its own. But how to reassert control? How to calm the troubled waters so each night we can put our world-weary soul to rest for 6 to 8 hours.
The nature of the mind is that it must have something to hold on to. If we don’t give it something that is steady, calming and reassuring, it will be drawn to thoughts which are titillating, changing, worrying or even terrifying.
